I humbly offer my full support and services to persons on Autism Spectrum and Neurodiverse Community, which I signify by placing a golden puzzle piece sign on my documents and including it in my internet presence.
As a loving mom of two neurodiverse kids, I welcome everyone in my practice and pledge to achieve 100 percent understanding, 0 percent judgment.
• When one of the parties to the dispute is on Autism Spectrum or has special needs, there is a set of questions that may help making mediation more comfortable and alleviate anticipated stress, such as to identify sensory triggers, choose the right time of the day, correct session setting, and discuss any other possible or potential stressors. If you need a fidget or frequent breaks, wear sunglasses or headphones, wish for pre-scheduled caucuses, have any particular preferences, I will make all reasonable efforts to meet your expectations and prepare accordingly.
• Additionally, when divorcing or separating couples have a child on Autism Spectrum or a Child with Special Needs, a range of specific questions to go through often arise before and during mediation and settlement agreement talks. I offer my help to parents in discussing these very sensitive questions, including:
• Diagnosis and Plan of Care for the Child
• Child Custody, Access, Parenting Time
• Schooling – Special Education or General Education (Mainstreaming)
• Support Issues, Special Expenses, Medical Visits
• Public benefits (SSI, Medicaid services, Waivers)
• Special Needs Trusts where applicable
• Transition to Adulthood (Guardianship, Residential placement and other)
• Continuance of Socialization
If you are a part of the Neurodiversity community, please contact me to speak about your needs in the upcoming session and we will work together to meet them in the best way possible.
